Should i visit koh samui in november

Recommended year-round in Thailand — but especially so in rainy season. The above bits are a great starter kit for avoiding bites — for total mosquito warfare, see this post for more tips. Kindle Oasis — waterproof e-reader.

A waterproof Kindle is made-to-measure for Samui in November. Keep it relatively well charged and loaded with good books and, if the power goes out, you have weeks of uninterrupted reading until you need a re-charge. Lashing wet palm leaves add a fitting soundtrack.

Yes, it might rain, but will it? Your guess is as good as mine. Rainy season typically lasts through November in its entirety. It can rain non-stop for 7 days. Yet consider where you live, and the last time it was unseasonably hot when it should have been cold. Weather is a weird beast and will always surprise us, no matter the law of averages. You might get days of perfect sun. In many parts of the world, storm-watching is an attraction in its own right. On Koh Samui, forgo the heavy Gore-Tex weather gear and substitute a nice rum drink.

Come expecting a holiday of yoga, reading, lounging, massages, long breakfasts … long baths? Does your Koh Samui hotel have an enormous bath tub? Should be fine though mosquito experiences do seem to vary greatly based on the person. Thanks for the blog! So helpful. My girlfriend and I are planning on going there for the first two weeks of July.

As far as I understand from your blog, the weather is actually quite good, however probably rain during the afternoon a few hours a day? Can you advise on the sea and whether it is the beautiful sea we see on pictures or if the wind is messing it up with dirt and such? And also, if there are too many tourists these weeks? The weather can be uncertain no guarantees but in general should have plenty of sunny days.

Rain at night or late afternoon. Sea is beautiful when the sun is out. I have just booked flights to Bangkok going in January. Just looked for connecting flights to Koh Samui with Bangkok Air but nothing available yet. Do you know how far in advance flights become available?

Great blog by the way enjoyed reading it. Mandy Breen. Looking forward to snorkeling. Is Ang Thong Marine Park open?

Ang Thong Marine Park is closed every year from November 1 to December 15 to allow nature some time to recover from tours and human interaction. This is also rainy season in the area and coincides with rough seasons and heavy rain so it would not be the best time to visit the park even if it was open.

The re-open date can change a little every year so you should be OK but do check before arrival. We will be there the last week of November. I am looking to hire a boat company to take us to Angthong Marine Park. One company says the park is closed for November, the other is offering to book the trip. Do you know if the park will be closed for November? Is there an alternate group of islands that is as spectacular for a day boat trip?

Do you think the seas will be too rough that time of year regardless? Thank you! It just depends on the weather and circumstances when you visit. Do you think it would be raining throughout? Would we get some time to swim? Does it get sunny at all? Let me know what you think. This is the center of the rain season so yeah, expect rain. Will you get some sun and beach time?

Probably, but there can be some substantial storms in between early October and mid-November so be prepared for anything. And after a big storm regardless of the season beaches can be littered with debris for a few days until the tide takes everything out. We plan to go to Samui in the end of December. Some sites say the sea is too rough for water activities. You can still get a few gray days and rain in late December but the sea is generally calm and fine for swimming.

Hello, we are planning to go to Koh Samui in mid December with kids. Zip-lining, go-cart racing, and Chaweng water park with huge inflatable bounce platforms floating in the ocean would be my top recommendations.

I have been to Patong a few times would you suggest Patong Beach or should we try Khao lak instead. Note: Some businesses may be temporarily closed due to recent global health and safety issues. High season, also known as dry season, is busy, but the weather is nice, and you won't see rain. If you want to jump into the sea, explore the surrounding islands, or get on a boat for a tour, this is definitely the best time of the year to visit. If you have a budget in mind and want to avoid the crowds, then you might want to arrive during the hot or the rainy season, which chase many visitors away but offer better prices and better deals.

Palm lined beach in Koh Samui. Koh Samui has much to offer no matter when you arrive on the island, but each month also brings some unique festivals and a change in the weather. January: January in Koh Samui is top peak season, as the weather is at its most pleasant in the mids Celsius. You'll get plenty of sun without feeling suffocated by the heat and also very little rain, making your chances of getting a really great suntan better than ever.

The Chinese New Year usually falls in late January , and the island goes all out with celebrations, with reds and golds adorning every little corner. The large Sino-Thai community in Koh Samui is large and very active and you'll see lots of Chinese tourists coming over to celebrate on the island. This translates to hotels that are often fully booked, higher airfare, and group tour companies being busier and charging more than usual.

If you want peace and quiet while on Koh Samui, skip the second half of the month and especially the week around the Chinese New Year celebrations. February: February is Koh Samui's driest and less humid month , perfect for spending time at the beach without having to worry about afternoon downpours or melting under the sun.

The month is only slightly warmer than January and still prime tourist season. When the Chinese New Year falls in early February, you'll run into big crowds, street parties, and lots of fireworks as well, but after the 15 th of the month, the island quiets down considerably.

March: Very little rain and almost no clouds make March a good time to visit , before things get really hot in April.

Keep in mind that March also means "spring break," so you'll find lots of young people, especially near the beach and the main tourist areas. April: April is Koh Samui's hottest month. Since it's also one of the most humid months, not even the sea breeze feels enough, and air-conditioned places to escape to are a must.

Songkran, the Thai New Year, falls in mid-April. Although it's technically just one day, the celebrations last longer than that. The main festivities concentrate on Chaweng Beach Road, and the temples around the island, and mainly consist of people attacking each other with spray guns in epic water battles.

Being a foreigner is no excuse—in fact, it will likely make you more of a target—so come prepared to be constantly wet for at least a couple of days. May: May is just as hot as April but a little more rainy , with about nine wet days in the month. That usually means short but intense downpours in the late afternoon—a short relief before the humidity kicks up again.

With the rains come mosquitoes, though, so evenings out are a little less comfortable.
